Although VAG Audi are certainly no strangers to the idea of SUV’s Seat is stepping into the world of the soft roader with a new rival for the Nissan Qashqai, Renault Kadjar and the like, called the Ateca.
Some would say SEAT are a little late to the crossover market but in a segment that is still very much growing, 2016 will see a plethora of new additions hot on the heels of last years Kadjar.
Built on a similar platform to the Leon, the 4.36-metre SUV is compact and shares the distinctive front styling of its hatchback cousin.
The extra height versus a hatchback brings more space, with a boot of 510 litres compared to the Leon’s 380, although four-wheel drive versions will sacrifice 25 litres of that.
Seat says the car will be one of the lightest in its segment, boosting driver engagement and efficiency.
