Calling SUV Owners This One Could Be For You

Q7,Q5, Q3 and future Q2 owners, in fact drivers of any SUV could well find their perfect private number plate shortly.

The long-standing debate on which car should wear the ultimate SUV moniker will be decided during the first live DVLA Personalised Registrations auction of 2016.

For the Registration 1 SUV – arguably the perfect personalised registration to complete the ultimate Sports Utility Vehicle – will go under the auctioneers hammer during this week’s three-day event being held at Tankersley Manor Hotel near Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

With the ever growing popularity of crossover/SUV’s expect this to be a popular auction.

The registration, which sports a £2,400 reserve, is one of two prime SUV-related registrations in the line-up of 1,500 lots being offered from Wednesday, February 24.

The DVLA will be aiming to surpass the success it achieved in 2015, officially the most successful year for DVLA Personalised Registrations’ live auction programme. Its phenomenal success was cemented after its final sale of the year held near Cheltenham became the Agency’s first auction since 2006 to break the £5 million mark while three of the five auctions staged in 2015 recorded 99 per cent sales conversions.  The Agency also set a new sales record for current-style registrations when KR15 HNA sold in May for £233,360.

And if the line-up of registrations for the first sale of the year is anything to go by, that success could well continue as the popularity in personalised registrations grows. With a heady mix of named-related registrations like BA65 HAW which boasts a £700 reserve, FA12 LEY (£700), FA15 SAL (£700) and GEO 129E (£250) included in the 1,500 on offer. There’s a raft for supercar lovers including 488 GTS(£1,200), 650 MCL (£1,200) and 993 RSR (£1,200) which relate to Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche cars. For the fun factor, the DVLA has served up SKA 80Y (£300), WH15 PER (£700) and 51 XTY (£1,200) to name three.

Adam Griffiths, of DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “Everyone in the industry knows there’s a huge debate on which car is the ultimate SUV. While we aren’t qualified to judge which vehicle is the best on the market, we are offering what we believe to be the ultimate in SUV-related personalised registrations in 1 SUV and SUV 70Y.”
