Audi Owners To Get An Online VIN Checker Regarding DieselGate
Audi has launched a new website in Germany for Audi owners, which will enable them to quickly see if their vehicle is involved in the dieselgate scandal.
Currently available exclusively in Germany – a global roll out is slated for the coming weeks, maybe even within a week, as Audi see unsurprisingly this as their highest priority at this current time – the site will enable owners to input their VIN number and see whether or not their car is affected. Alternatively, customers can contact their dealership or the company’s customer support service.
Audi says the affected models are equipped with 1.6- and 2.0-liter EA 189 diesel engines with EU5 certifications. The company went on to say the “cars continue to be roadworthy and technically safe without any restrictions.”
While it’s now easier to determine whether or not your car is affected, a solution won’t be announced until later this month.
Audi Blog also understands that customers could currently be faced with a bill of up to £50, experts said affected motorists will be left out of pocket by increased service charges and repair costs as lawyers said the scandal could become the biggest group action the UK has ever seen, we hope to have more on this story over the coming days.
